Our Big-Audacious-Goal was to compete hard and finish well in the 2018 R2AK (Race to Alaska). The 750 mile, no motor, no support, no kidding adventure race was long and treacherous but with planning, practice, and tremendous support from our families and friends we became the first all-women's team and monohull to win the race!
...and seeing that the boat is race ready, we're excited to announce that Maks to the Moon, our Melges 32 will be once again making its way north in the 2019 race! Stay tuned for more details on Sail LIke a Girl's plans for this year's epic journey!
One could argue that we certainly are a mixed bag of women of true grit! What we all have in common is a true passion for sailing and the determination it will take to excel in the R2AK!! Bring it on!
Sail Like a Girl, in combination with a generous contribution from First Federal, and our amazing shore crew donated over $12,000 to the Pink Boat Regatta in 2018 in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Pink Boat Regatta Mission: We fuel smart research to develop new paths for breast cancer prevention and a cure. This turns cancer patients into survivors, buys precious time, and improves lives. We do this through sailing. Because that's what we do.
